Papama Mtwisha is a fashion director, stylist, designer, speaker and now a businesswoman.  For almost two decades, she has been at the forefront of South African fashion while forging a multi-dimensional career fueled by pure passion and a deep sense of purpose. Join us for an authentic evening with Papama Mtwisha as we discover what it takes to build a successful and influential career in fashion.

With a diverse 15-year career, Papama has worked in all aspects of the fashion and style industry from fashion design to fashion directing for publications, wardrobe styling for the TV and film industry, to personal styling and image consulting and heading up a luxury retail concept store in Johannesburg, Luminance as it’s creative director. During her tenure at Luminance, she worked with top international fashion houses like Givenchy, Stella McCartney, Oscar de la Renta, Chloe and Guiseppe Zanotti.

A true creative at heart, Papama continues to work as one of South Africa’s most in-demand commercial and editorial stylists with an impressive list of brands in her portfolio. In 2016, she launched her entrepreneurial debut, Butter Pudding- a kids clothing line which was inspired by her two daughters. She has since launched ‘Africa Your Time Is Now’, a movement that has a label designed to challenge common stereotypes and offer commentary on subjects like Afro-optimism, heritage and ethnic identity.

Her wealth of experience in the industry includes a ten-year stint as a fashion and lifestyle director at Destiny Magazine, lifestyle editor at Tribute Magazine and fashion and beauty contributor to Oprah, True Love and Femina magazines. Papama has wardrobe styled for notable TV shows such as Dressed to Impress, Coca-Cola Popstars and Ses’Khona. Her extensive influence in the industry has put her on the judging panel for numerous fashion events including the SA Fashion Week, AFI Joburg Fashion Week, PICA Awards and Decorex to name a few.

With her keen eye for detail and extensive knowledge, we’re excited to have Papama Mtwisha join us as we discover what it takes for a creative entrepreneur to build a diverse and influential career in the world of fashion.
